go with asus dfi abit gigabyte over the msi, the dfi you had listed before was a great overclocker, there are some asus p5n-e sli boards that are open box or refurbs that also oc pretty good and can do true sli
What? I love MSI boards

But anyway, any slightly overclock Core 2 would rape the fastest AMD... for now anyway.

Think again Have you ever seen how many awards their socket 939 and 754 boards have received? I haven't really followed their 775 boards, but to blanket statement all of MSI as not making great motherboards is in error. Their 939 stuff was far better than anything Asus put out until their 32x board.

If you don't buy AMD, you're not living in the real world. Intel sucks dude.

That's very untrue, ask around, alot of people swear by MSI, me being one of them. I'd take MSI over ASUS anyday

I'd go with this motherboard here

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136017

and a X2 3600 Brisbane
Go for an X2 3600+ Brisbane.. you can get it to 3.0Ghz max on an Zalman 9500 CPU Cooler and some Artic Silver 5. Maybe 3.2Ghz with water cooling but still... Don't get the other brisbanes because the only difference in them is they come at higher clocks, they all have 512k Cache.. So get an X2 3600+ Brisbane and overclock it to 3.0Ghz.

As for the motherboard get an TForce 550 if you don't want to go SLI or if you do get the TForce 570 SLI.. They are both very known for being able to get an X2 3600+ Brisbane to 3Ghz easily.

If you in fact are going to get an Core 2 Duo system then get the E4300 is you want budget or if you want something with 4MB Cache to compare to E6600 then get an E6320. It's inexpensive with the same Cache as the E6600 and will overclock to 3.2Ghz easily and I've seen people push them to 4Ghz on water.

As for the case I would suggest going for an EagleTech Sidewinder case. It's free! Gives you more money towards an better graphics card then that 6600GT. If you in fact only want to spend around $100 (the same price as the 6600GT) then go for an 8600GT. On Newegg.com they have them for as low as $120. And she has the speeds of an 7900GS and shes DirectX 10 capable.

Don't worry this build will be upgradable because LGA775 is nearing it's end. It has been around for a very long time and yeah they may make more but sooner or later a new socket is going to come around and it's going to turn into Socket 939 vs AM2 like AMD Sockets did. The new AMD Processors will work on AM2 so nope AM2 won't go out in about 2 years after you get it.. Anyway that's just me 2 cent

well, i already have all the WC stuff(pump, water blocks, rad, res, pci powerplant card...1/2 hoses and fittings)

soooo.... i plan on the e6600 and OC'ing to the max. hopefully i can find a chip with decent stepping, i plan on asking the guys at the place where im planning on getting all the stuff to let me look at all of the e6600's they have in stock, so i can find the best one. ive been researching these forums for a month+ for this build, and feel confident im getting the right stuff.

when i build a pc, i dont just rush out and get the cheapest stuff, ive done that in the past and regretted it. i like to build something i can live with for a while. unfortunately my budget is limited to around 2 grand canadian.... which is allright. but the sky isnt the limit here. if it was id add 2 or 3 WD raptor 10,000 rpm 150 gig drives, but at 350 buks a piece i cant do it....

i already have 2 LG 18x dvd burners, 2- 19" lcd monitors and 2 sets of monsoon flat panel speakers w/subs from my last build. my case is a huge server case that ive had for many years, custom painted silver, with stealthed drive bays. i was considering a new case, just to look at, but this one has plenty of room for the WC setup, and is all together already, helping my build.also a PCI DVB-Sat card, that i use for dishnetwork/bell express(high def) recording...basically ill need new 1/2" hose for all the wc connections and clamps, as i dont like to re-use this stuff once ive disconnected it.... also i think i will forgo WC the graphics card this time around, as i prolly will not oc it, and i dont really game anymore anyways. so ill just wc the cpu and motherboard, for the best cooling solution for an overclock. also, as ive mentioned in another thread, i will plan on using my socket a tdx dangerden block on the e6600, i just have to laser-cut a custom mounting plate from 1/8" stainless steel.(i have access to a CNC Laser cutter from work!)....

this build will take place in the next 2-3 weeks.... ill start a new thread on it in the INTEL section once i begin, with pics....

im gunning for a system that will run at 3.5 ghz 24/7... we'll see. 2 grand should cut it.....

after much consideration im defecting from amd this time around! oh well....in the past theyve been awesome, but i just can't resist the #'s im seeing from the C2D....
