Please help me overclock a Sempron 2600+ - Page 2

thats not bad at all, probably stays around 40C under prime95.

I'm not sure what to suggest then, its isnt the RAM, you said you have your Ht under 1000mhz, its isnt the voltage unless you want to try it even higher depending what its at now...it might be as fast a your chip can go

ahhh if its due to an FSB cap that would explain it - check the manufacturers website and see if there is a newer BIOS available

Some NF3 MBs had CPU bus limits.
1. You reduced the RAM multiplyer
2. You reduced the HT multiplyer... 2x should be the least you need at those speeds and even 3x should work up to about a CPU OC of near 300
3. Did you up the chip set voltage?
4. Even though your PS says 500w, does it have the power to do the job. Many PS are over rated and can't provide good stable power at there full load.

Duke i did everything you said...and my PS has 500W real power...
Some NF3 MBs had CPU bus limits.
1. You reduced the RAM multiplyer---->to 333 then to 266 but still nothing...
2. You reduced the HT multiplyer... 2x should be the least you need at those speeds and even 3x should work up to about a CPU OC of near 300--> i even had it to 1x...didn't tryed with 2 or 3x but only with 1x it reached 2100.1Mhz
3. Did you up the chip set voltage?--->yup...
4. Even though your PS says 500w, does it have the power to do the job. Many PS are over rated and can't provide good stable power at there full load.-->and my PS has 500W real power...

Try to lower memory to 266 and lower voltage too, and make sure HT is set to x3 for now so to make sure u dont skip 1000fsb. that way you can make sure that the bottle neck is the cpu, and maybe check its temps see what they run at, u might need a better cooler.

Edit: sorry for double posting same idea didn't notice there was a second page )

a 500mhz OC isnt too bad, I can only squeeze a 600mhz OC out of my X2 before it starts getting unstable without more voltage than my temps can handle.

So 2.1ghz may not sound much but its a 31.25% OC from stock which is pretty respectable by anyone's standards
