Please help me overclock a Sempron 2600+ - Page 3

I have a sempy 3100+, and the max I could get was 2.6ghz...max stable is 2.502. That said...I have LOTS more room to OC with my motherboard(FSB goes to like 600)/BIOS/PSU/RAM...simply put, this is the fastest I can get this chip to run. I wouldn't be surprised at all if your current OC is your max OC.

The "2600+" is merely a name...mostly used for marketing purpouses, as clock speeds do not matter nearly as much as the design and efficiency of the processor series in question. For instance...a 1.6Ghz C2D will smoke a 3Ghz P4, the P4 has nearly double the clockspeed of the C2D, however, the superior technology and design of the C2D makes it the better CPU. Mostly you can use the model numbers(i.e.; 2600+), to ROUGHLY gauge the CPU's performance level within the same generation/series of processors.

I wouldn't go past 1.65v....not with your cooling...I think 1.5v-1.55v would be my limit if I were you....but then again, if you fry your CPU, its not like they are expensive....

Wow. 1.8 is smoking (literally)!

1.8 on air (much less OEM) is just way too high.

I guess if he does not post for a while we know why....
