Should my CPU be dong this?

Thread Starter
Alright, well I have been noticing some fishy stuff goin on with my computer lately. Its been kinda slow, on startup, etc...so I decided to see what it was doing during normal net surfing. I took a screenshot of the task manager, and other stuff. It seems abnormal to be doing that during normal net surfing, right? The spikes are when I click on a link...any idea if I am just being paranoid or if something else is happening?

It needs a defrag, I do know that. Ill end up cleanin things out and defragin later today.

The clock: I know, I just saw that. I changed it to 9x in the bios, I restarted, and then I checkd it again. Its back at 5...lemme go change it again...

Edit: It(my mobo/bios I guess) changes the multiplier, according to CPU usage. I guess Ill just set it to 9, not to move.

Well, I changed it, again. And I rebooted, again. And it changed back to 5, again. I saved the BIOS, Im sure, Ive done it 3 times already. I bumped the FSB to 220 also, and the mult to 9, but its still at 200x5. Maybe a BIOS update?

Try disabling "Cool'n'Quiet" if you can find that...

lol didnt even notice the multi , run a program that will stress the cpu ( eg prime95 ) and see if your multi comes back up to normal.
