Attention All Antec 900 Case Users!

Thread Starter
Hi, i recently bought an Antec 900 Case and its very cool but of course with overclocking every degree counts, i havent yet fitted the fan on the side panel where the clear window is and was wondering has anyone noticed any reduction or increase in temperature since they installed the side fan?

Also, should i be having it as intake or extraction?

Thanks Very much

It would be intake, and when i put a fan there it didn't help. Really it doesn't blow the air anywhere for me.

My TT120 intake isn't getting helped from it, and my 8800 GTS doesn't get much air from it.

If you really want improved temps, what you should do is move the two 120mm fans that it came with to the first 6 5.25 drive bay slots, and put your media drives and hard drives on the bottom.
I saw nice improvements in temps from doing this.

My problem with the case is how the hard drives have to go in the same slot as one of the fans

Because of its placement, the fan is best suited to help CPU coolers with intakes that face the side panel door, such as the Big Typhoon. If the fan were larger, it would help with motherboard and RAM temperatures, and I'm sure the Antec 900 fan does, but it's placement would suggest it is more for CPU coolers.

thanks for the speedy resonpse guys, i already moved my fans to the top but i kept my cdrom drive in the 1st bay and put the 2 fans directly below it, which i think is probably as good as putting them at the top tbh.

So i should leave my fan off then it seems

thanks

Just because you don't see temperature changes doesn't mean you should leave it off. If you have thermal probes, you should stick them to the RAM, for example, and determine if the fan helps. See what your CPU temperature are on and off, as well. It won't hurt anything by trying.
