I wouldn't always test with the artifact scanner. It can report artifacts falsely in my card. I would rely on the games themselves. Run the most GPU dependant game for an hour or so and see if it produces artifacts.

ATi tool heats up your card very fast which causes the artifacting. It's a great tool to see how hot ur card gets b4 artifacting.

Use ATITool. It's the same idea as using Prime95 for CPUs...it stresses it in a worst case scenario. Scanning for an hour without errors is usually good for me. I set it to autoclock, and the overclock is much easier than doing it myself...and it's much more stable.

i disagree half, since 1sec ago someone (thx Twinnuke) explained to me what my artefects caused at my startup. my method of OC'ing:

1 setting clocks
2 run card warm with aqua/3dmark
3 scan arts with atitool
4 if no arts repeat/ if so lower clocks by 10 and clock indiviualy (lol bad english)

btw sometimes I see yellow dot things on the arti scan but ati got its atr detection to max so aint that a artifect or cant ati detect it ?

ATI Tool is great for testing artifacting...if you know that it doesn't have any bugs for your video card. Mine causes instant artifacting at stock speeds or OCed. I think that was only version 0.26 though. You could run several loops of 3dmark also I guess...
