Hmm, I'm pretty sure mine is an L709A, so that's only a few weeks away from yours. I undervolted it a bit (but left it at 2.4 ghz) and it runs really cool w/ the stock HSF, only about 20c over ambient under 100% load on both cores (and that's w/ poorly applied AS5, and a heat sink base that's visibly not 100% flat).

Let us know how far you can get yours

Is the Q702A any good?

I'll probably get my RAM and gfx on tuesday (monday is a freakin holiday ) so I'll be ready to OC then and let you know the results. It's going to be an E6600 L707A on a P5N-E SLI with a zalman 9700 for cooling.

wow similar setup - just you have an e6600 that has 1 more multi than my e6420. You should be looking forward to some great results

The 6600 should also theoretically be a slightly better chip then the 6420, although I don't know how true that is in reality (since plenty of people here have "lower" grade chips outperforming "higher" grade chips).

If you ask me, they are just all the same chips with a different multi. A good stepping is what really matters.

Yeah, I kind of get that impression too, but Intel supposedly picks out the better chips to label as the higher lines. Whether that's true or not, or whether their selection process has any merit whatsoever, that's a different story.
