Sweet. Well for Windows to see a HDD it has to have a windows file system format on it. If it doesnt it cant recognise it.

alright its all working well now. the slave drive is partitioning itself.

next and final problem is that my one of my optical drives is not showing up at all. not in bios or windows. whats up with that?

Great. Make sure all power connections are firmly in place for your optical drive..infact try a different molex connector.

Both drives are getting power. They open and close with no problems. Just a no show in bios and windows. Any more suggestions?

Try a different IDE cable, the one your using may be bad. Either that or make sure tha the IDE cable is properly secure in the drive and motherboard.
