and as an added bit of info:

You can use 2 sata hd's in raid 0 with a ide backup

The image above, the backup drive is a 320 gig 7200.10 sata drive that is set to IDE mode (not part of the raid)

I also had a WD 200 gig as a backup with the 2 sata (before the third barracuda was ordered)

I would be buy perp drives but if you had the $$ I would get raptors.
