There's only one tab? There should be three.. ***. Could you link me to your exact motherboard model? I couldn't find it on Newegg.

Well I am just retarded then. Thank you for your help but it is doubtful I will fix this tonight. I looked at the heatsink and there is no way those metal peices with the three notches are going to line up. In order for that to happen I would have to bend them down quite a bit. It is possible I recieved a defective one. Maybe the metal peices need to be bent down a little more in order for them to work. I will try to fix it tomorrow because I am going to go to bed. I hate not being able to fix something before I try to go to sleep. It is unsettling because it is something that should be relatively easy. I planned to hae that computer up and running, and I should have had I not been stopped here.

I looked at the picture on newegg. Its hard to make out whether there is more than one bump, but it appears as though this is the case. Still it seems like the heatsink should work fine.

This might sound redundant, but have you tried mounting it the opposite way? lol. I have no idea what else it could be. If you haven't figured it out by tomorrow, the AMD gurus will be awake in the late morning to help you out further

its a new computer, its a... kind of new amd procesor, btw you shouldve went wiht HP, and it is AM2 because it has a plastic black bracket on the stock cooler and 4 screws, all 2 are on one side of each side, they are not on the corners. btw, nothing cools better than the stock mointed cooler, they are made to last for at least 10 years, fitted perfectly by the factory, and im not rly sure that you can overclock a dell or an HP due to their BIOS.
