Pc Wont Boot - Page 3

As i said, i'm having this same problem, i've isolated it down to a file called "si3112r.sys" from what I can tell its supposed to be a hard drive driver for my 200gig sata hdd. *shrug* but when i do a search for all files and folders with that name, two files come up in two diff locations, one in Windows/OEM/ and one in Windows/System32

i've reinstalled windows 5 times in the past 36 hours. and thats no exageration. trying my usual three partition setup and single partition setup. i've tried reseting the cmos.

after a good reinstall of windows (sometimes thats easier said than done...these disks or my drives are rather finicky) everything runs fine (with my network cable unplugged) i got through an hour of formatting empty partitions, reinstalling drivers, but when i go to connect to the internet and plug my network cable back in. no less than 2 minutes later it starts restarting itself on me again with no warning. and from then on, cable unplugged or not, it keeps restarting itself.

i find it peculiar that my network cable has to be plugged in for the "virus" to initiate itself... and its quite obvious that from then on, after one taste of the internet, its self-perpetuating. and doesn't need the internet to screw with my computer anymore

if anyone has any suggestions...i'd be VERY happy to hear them.....god, i'm begging, lol

mine is fixed... turned out to be a somehow corrupt sata HDD driver....all i had to do was copy the contents of the sata driver folder (the one with si3112r in it) into the windows/system32/drivers/ directory and it works fine now, EVEN WITH INTERNET! *gasp*

anyway....i lost hundreds of pictures that i didn't think to backup, along with all my bookmarks for very good automotive part deals and such....ugh....i wish i'd known the cure for this was so simple before i started reinstalling...everywhere you turn when researching this problem everyone ends up saying "...well i guess reinstall windows"

which didn't work for me for some reason, even though the driver on my HDD driver diskette is the same one i manually copied over (after using the corrupt driver on the diskette to at least get windows installed and slightly stable)
