I am an ati enthusiast but my system decided to ruin my dream of buying a 2900xt since it would bottleneck it a lot. I still think though ati rocks. well until I see the 8800 rocks.

INSTALL THAT CARD ALREADY!

Ok covered the core with AS5 and the rest with AC MX1. Installed the latest drivers I found on the site (158.22) and will test it soon. I want to ask one think. The 6 pin power connected from my PSU would not fit on the card. I hard to literally force it it. Why it happened? The normal 6 pin connectoes are like

oval, oval,square
square,oval,oval

mine was

oval,oval,square
square,square,oval

Well I really forced in it after using a knife to crunch a bit on the square that should be oval. I wonder what enermax was thinking when it made the 6 pin connector like that ><!!!

Anyway all seem ok. Time for the tests. =3

That is indeed an awsome card. But that Pentium D will bottleneck the hell out of it. Even my 3800 OCed at 2.4ghz bottlenecks mine horribly. I believe even the best Core 2 Duos can bottleneck it.

What sucks is, overclocking my card does nothing, thats how bad my cpu bottlenecks it. I could overclock my card 660/2100 and it did nothing. OCed my cpu to 2.4ghz and about a 1000 mark increase in 3DMark 06.

yea your cpu is definitely going to bottle neck your card. if its in the budget i would say get the e6600 core 2 duo (yes and im an amd enthusiast saying this). My cpu bottle necks my card even when i over clock to 2.7.

You didn't NEED to reseat the heatsink with AS5, but it will probably drop it a degree or two.

And lol, what's wrong with part of the heatsink showing, how does that justify it being poorly made?

They can't cover the entire thing in some pretty plastic lol.

And yeah, forcing anything is never a good idea without careful inspection. 75% of the time you are doing something wrong if you have to force it.
