Audi's latest QuadCore Temps: On Air, On Load

Thread Starter
Room temp: 76F
Orthos x 2 for 13 hours

55c-56c Load @ 3.0Ghz 3.125v , DDR2-1000 ... omg.

55c

56c + CoreTemp

Sadly, I still can't actually stabilize anything higher than 3.2ghz. I can't understand why,either. =(

I wish I could, with these temps I could probably get 3.2+.

Take 15C off of Tat and Coretemp's temp readings. I think.

Cause your T_junction is 100C and not 85C.

Yeah, that's what I've been hearing but I dunno how accurate it is. =\\ If it is, I've got seriously nice temps. Either way, being at 55c-56c in TaT at 3.0ghz is really good, I think, for a Quadcore.

Especially on air. ^^; I think, anyway

No No No..... add 15C to speedfans readings, TAT/Core Temp/Everest are all pretty good with quads.

Hey Audi, what are the rest of the voltages set at? I've been able to boot at 3.6 and run 8m SuperPi, but it wasn't Orthos stable. I'm having similar results as you, 3.2 is ok, but any thing higher requires more voltage than I'm prepared to give at the moment.

Man, I honestly think it's the motherboard holding me back.

9 x 360
2.5 x 360 = 900 ram @ v2.0
5-5-5-10-2T

DDR2 OverVoltage - +0.2v (2.0v)
PCI-E OverVoltage - +0.1v
FSB OverVoltage - +0.1v
(g)MCH OverVoltage - +0.1v
CPU Voltage Control - 1.4125v and going up to see if I can find a stable OC.

Sheesh. 3.2 is killing me...

Maybe try upping your FSB and/or MCH voltages.
Have you tried 400 or 401 x 8 for 3200 GHz?

Yeah tried 8 x 400. Currently exploring the Upped FSB and MCH voltages now. Manged to sit in orthos for 10 minutes this time before I got the red flag. LoL.

Going to go back to 8 x 400 in a bit, as well. TY for the input.

If you don't mind me askin, what are your load temps right now on water cooling?

Dang man. By the way, very nice setup you got goin there!

Hope you can get your temps down.

I got a feeling I should just be happy with 3.0 @ 55c load instead of trying for 3.2ghz. I can't stabilize to save my life.

Hey Audi, my temps at 3.2 range form 48C-56C depending on which core and the size of FFT running. These are at 22C ambient and 1.3875v. A few days back ambient temperature was about 26-28 and core temps were peaking at 60C, I lost a few work units for BOINC, so clearly at these temps its not quite stable. Fortunately ambient temperature is back to 22C or so, so I'm going to play around and see if I can get it stable.

With a high ambient even my water set up has difficulty keeping up with the heat output of this chip.

I found that 400 x 8 was hard to get stable, needing a jack on both the FSB voltage and the NB Vcore. 401 was easy with all voltages (except Vcore) at there lowest.

I have also found that 356 x 9 with RAM at DDR2 890 (4/4/4/10 2.15v) is faster than 400 x 8 DDR2 800 (4/4/4/10 2.0v), and 356 x 9 DDR2 1068 (5/5/5/15 2.15v) is faster than both of the above settings. Moving into the next strap at 401 FSB significantly reduces memory bandwidth and performance.

I'm going to try 457 x 7 (if my board can handle it) and see if that does better than 356 x 9.
