Audi's latest QuadCore Temps: On Air, On Load - Page 5

Stock is 1.3 on my chip according to Intel.

And, I'm no longer having stability issues. Even with the X1950XT in now. I just had to change the cards frequency to 120 and it works. Dunno WHY it does, but nothing wrong now.

Gonna load it up to see if temps changed because of that hot-ass card. But, I'm betting it's still 55c-56c after thirteen hours.

Again, my stability problems came when I changed cards, last night. Setup has been stable before then for a week.

LOL, no wonder Q6600 runs alot cooler... I'm still getting 69C on full 8k small FFT tests and i'm just ignoring it because it seems safe for this processor.

A normal prime95 load (1024k) is 59C. So I think im fine cause thats about how much a game would load my processor if it used all 4 cores.

I dunno if it's that safe, y0. I think it's the way your Ultra-X is mounted for one, and you need more case cooling.

I'm not sure how hot your 8800 gets, but I know for a fact that the heat from the 7900GS was effecting my CPU temps directly. I placed a SilenX beneath it standing up to blow the air away and I swear my TaT temps dropped 1-2c.

Did you ever order NB cooling as well? I just got my fans and NB cooling in and I'm dropping them in tonight (probably after PAPRIKA) to see if I can crush the temperatures still.

Also... you're at 3.2ghz, right? When I went to 3.2ghz I needed 1.4 or 1.38 to stabilize and the temps looked like 67c after an hour in Orthos. =\\ So, I wasn't too far off from where you are at that clock.

Maybe bring it down to 3.0Ghz and change up your vCore to see what kinda temps you get now?

I took that fan off my chipset and my temps actually went up, so it wasn't that small fan causing my temps.

I have a big typhoon VX, returned the enzo. I have 5 case fans (76CFM each) and vents on the top of the case.

If I remove the overclock and set it to stock settings, and put on the stock heatsink it goes to 72C. I searched around and most people see low or mid 70s on the stock heatsink. So i'm still a good 2-5C under the stock temps.

Check my computer showcase in my sig, I have excellent cable management and cooling, so I think these temps are normal. http://www.overclock.net/gallery/sho...r/3953/cat/500

Heres a post about the temps:

A real review showing temps of 71C (With no case!):

You have more outlets for heat than I do. I'm not sure, man. Big Typhoon is better than Enzotech Ultra-X around these waters, so your temps should be at least equal to my own if you drop your CPU speed to 3.0ghz and drop your voltages.

Only other thing I can think of heating up your case are those two 8800's.

Can't wait to see what all these fans do for my setup. DD 52c load too far-fetched for air on a Quad core?

I edited my post with some links, pretty interesting stuff.

I'm in vista now so theres no way that I know of I can even check my temps until programs are released

Dang! Your cable management is greater than mines, dude. I can't believe that quad runs that much hotter than my own.

They're the same architecture, just one is factory OC'd to 3.0ghz and has an unlocked multi, right?

If that's true, there's no real difference outside of those two factors between the Q6600 and QX6700. In theory, at 3.0Ghz, at the same vCore/voltages, same cooling, the two chips should see very similar, if not identical, temperatures?

Or is there more to the QX67/68 that I dunno about?

The only thing that makes any sense to me about the range in temperatures for different C2Q's at the same speed and voltage is that all chips are different.

I mean on my chip cores 0 and 1 are consistently 4C - 6C hotter than cores 2 and 3 at load. So even with the same Vcore and speed, the two dies have very different temps.
