Socket A Temp

Thread Starter
I'm trying to overclock my Athlon 2400+. I was wondering if anyone knew how hot a Socket A could get before incurring any damage. Thanks!

EDIT:
By the way, it's running at about 48C at 2100mhz. (which is about 100mhz faster than stock.)

The maximum operating temperature for an Athlon XP is 85º C (185º F) before permanent damage results. Keep below this temperature to be safe.

mmmmm 55? This isn't a 64 duke the cutting on the die is larger, i'd say 65 before i'd back it down. The xp's can take more heat then 64's could.

50c manx on 939
55c on Socket A

Sure the "A" can take more heat, but how soon do you want to kill it!

But like I said, some push a 60c max on the "A" so what ever floats your boat

48c is not bad for a socket A.
Those socket AMD-XPs' socket As' run hotter than the newer AMD Athlon64s' socket 939/754/AM2s' anyways. different architectures & dies.
