Hello I have the ATITool and I am wondering what a safe core and memory to set my card at and how long till it will die out? the Default Settings are core:249.75 Memory:196.59

my processor is a "AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3100+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.8GHz"
and I have 768MB RAM (2 slots)

Thank you.

Thats an old card and i doubt the memory have coolers on them, i wouldn't do any hardcore overclocking unless you don't care if it dies.

I don't want it to die in like a month lol I would like to keep it for at least a copel more months do you have any ideas?

Do you think core:273.86 and Memory:228.54 Is to much from the default or do you think I can get some more out of it.

Its hard to say how far its gonna go so what to do is:
1. Use atitool and increase core and memoryspeeds up a 5mhz notch.
2. Scan for artifacts (start with 1minute periods)
3. Repeat step 1 while increasing scanning time in step 2.

Its a good thing to keep watching the 3d window because sometimes the artifactscanning isnt perfect.

Before OCing read this:
http://www.overclock.net/ati/26081-h...hics-card.html

Its also a good idea to make shure you are using the latest Ati drivers from their website.

if i remember correctly, the 9550 can be flashed to a 9700... but its been a very long time. lol

The 9xxx series had an issue with overclocking becasue whenever it was overclocked, it would be thrown back to default settings after you closed ATITool. be sure to check the box.

I was able to overclock my 9550 to 465 core and 220 memory. They have little overclocking headroom on the memory but share the same core as the 9600pro so they can overclock quite high on the core. They can run at 400+ on the core for extended periods of time as long as you have proper cooling. Also go into the advanced options in ATItool and tell it to remove the clock lock on 9500 and 9550 series cards.

no the 9550 can only be flashed to a 9600, a 9500 can be flashed to 9700 to unlock the 4 pixel pipelines. if i was you i would put on a fan on the heatsink and then overclock. without a fan you will only be able to achieve maybe 50mhz overclock. i had a 9550 then flashed it a 9600 and was able to achieve and overclock or 500mhz core and 450mhz mem, but it died after a year of use.
