Flashing help needed desperately

Thread Starter
Ive been trying forever to flash my pc to no avail. The pc is a gateway, details on it here http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/510S...900373nv.shtml Its an intel mobo,d865glc.Ive tried flashing with the intel express bios updates and flash by bootable cd as well.

I have no clue what could be wrong.I wouldnt even worry about it but heres the reasons for the update from gateway

Added new fan control settings.
* Fixed issue with text not showing up on splash screen after entering setup.
* Added latest processor update code.
* Added new fan control settings.
* Fixed an issue of delay in booting to Floppy with 2 SATA drives connected in native mode.
* Added fix for no message showing up after changing fan control options telling the user to power down the computer.
* Repaired HyperThreading logo to still appear when Hibernate sleep state is cycled on operating systems at or later than Windows XP.
* Added Option ROM display security feature.
* Added rear fan detection feature.
* Added fix for E9 hang issue when BIOS contents becomes corrupt within memory.
* Repaired the display of HyperThreading Logo on consecutive cycles of Hibernate (S4).
* Repaired Operating System based BIOS Update (Express BIOS Update)to work properly.
* EBU must be ran from command prompt with the parameters of –a mb after the executable name.
* Added BIOS support for 2 new SKU’s. One SKU based off the GV Chipset, and the other based off the PE chipset. SSID’s and some special hardware settings have been coded into the BIOS for those boards.
* AGP clock signal has been disabled when the BIOS is running on the PE.
* CPU fan has a new minimum duty cycle of 20% on.
* Old AMI debug hooks were removed.

When I try the express update it runs then reboots and I get the same messeage"your bios has not been updated, please look at readme txt for troubleshooting "And when i try by manual flash it says remove disk and hit enter to begin flashing,do not touch anything for 2 minutes. And from there it just shuts down and then nothing.

So any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hmm .. It seems a mystery to me. It sounds like it's a prebuilt PC if I've read your post correctly.
You should contact Gateway about this as if you've bought your PC from them, they're oblidged to help you.

Yeah its a prebuild, about 3 years old now.Dunno if they charge or not for info since its out of warranty.

It seems like there's a switch on your motherboard that disallows BIOS flashing.
Look in your motherboard/computer manual for it, and switch the security to off.

I have the same motherboard. Just found this thread and wanted to follow-up on it. Has everything been working well with the Intel BIOS?

my g/f's computer is a gateway as well. if you are trying to use the intel flash programs and bios it will not work.

you can ONLY use the gateway tools and bios if you want to update anything.
