Cooler master ASTACKER case
Nvidia 680I mother board
OCZ 700 watt power supply
2 Gforce 8800 GTS 320MB Super Clocked.
OCZ PC2 8500 Sli ready 5-5-5-15 (2 gigs) Ram.
Intel Core2 Quad 2.40 GHz
Running 4 Side Fans a Razor Diamond Back mouse and the Saitek Eclipse 2 keyboard with a 22in LG 3000:1 2ms Monitor.'
And 2 139 Gig Raptor (10,000 Rpm) Harddrives

This is what im running right now. On average I get 40-60 fps with games like oblivion and elder scrolls I get around 80 or so on CS:S. I built this rig for the next gen MMOS and games coming out in quarter 4 just wondering why I kinda cap out on 60 fps in most games Anyone got suggestions on other parts I could get to speed things up?

Also whats the average temp a cpu and mb etc should be running at?

SLI drivers are still very buggy. You'll get better performance in 3DMark but not always in games. Get an 8800GTX -- this is from someone who got an 8800GTS himself =p

Plus down the road, you can get an 8800GTX SLI setup which will destroy.

You did disable the vsync setting did you?

40-60 seems a bit low to me :|

Having Vsync on with reduce 'tearing' in games. However, it caps your FPS to 60.

Disabling Vsync on LCD monitors will show a lot of tearing of images, but you will have a higher fps average.

I always have Vsync on except when benchmarking. 60 FPS is enough. :]

Also, make sure you have the latest drivers for your video cards.

Judging from your CS:S fps you already have it disabled. My guess is you have it disabled for CS:S specifically -- whereas everything else, Vsync is enabled. Try universally disabling your Vsync and see what results you get.

True, but you can set it at each program / game individually.

My point is just, why get a better card if it's just that one setting holding the rough power back
