A64 3000+ (S754) Venice OC

Alright i have the A64 Venice 3000+ (S754) DH-E6
Right now im at 2.4 on stock voltage and stock cooling
soon i am going to get an Arctic cooling freezer 64 pro(lap it and put AS5 on it)
so temps wont be an issue,
basically what im wondering is does anyone know if i can hit 3 Ghz on this?
I saw on XS that someone was at 3.1 with my stepping, but i dont know what kind of cooling he had, So what do you think my wall will be?

Can you? Sure...all things being ideal.

It's hard for ANYONE to say whether you will hit 3.0 or not. 754 motherboards (and some 754 cpu's) don't like much more than 250 FSB, but it is not always the case.

I think the only way you will hit 3, would be a generous ram divider to keep the ram under 250. It's not so much that the ram can't handle the speed, it's the onboard memory controller that seemed to be the issue with most 754's. Not sure if this afflicted the Venice cores though.

I will set the divider at 133 MHz so my ram will run at stock speeds, since my cheapo VS wont do more than like 215

Will i be able to hit 2.6 on stock cooling i tried with 1.475 volts and i got a BSOD and my temps right now are 53C load so should i bump up the voltage to 1.5 and go for 2.6 or do i need better cooling?

With my Sempron 64, I capped out at 2500MHz, but I'm pretty sure that I was mobo FSB limitied. You might be able to get 2.6, I can boot my Sempron past 2.7GHz, with a better mobo I think I could stabilize it. I don't know about stock cooling though. You really should check into the s754 cpu pin mod which enables you to get past the 1.55 volts max the actual cpu allows. I'm sure I could get 2700MHz stable with the pin mod, volts at 1.575, maybe 1.6 if I'm feeling risky (it is just a Sempron!).

hook up some more vcore man, as long as your temps don't get past 55 load or so, your still good. Setting above 1.55 doesn't feed more volts, but seems to stabilize the voltage jumping a bit. I have mine set to 1.625V, but 1.55V is max that can be utilized without the pin mod. My Sempron has no problem at 1.55V with stock cooling.

1.55V vcore
2.8V memory voltage
278 FSB
9x multi (stock)
HT multi 3x
memory at 166 (333), 1T 3-3-3-5

Maybe try lowering mem timings some, as it seems to affect overclocking in some motherboard/cpu's, even when ram is run at stock speeds after overclocking FSB. I'm sure some voltage will get you stable at 2.6 for sure, 2.7 or 2.8GHz are even likely targets to try for. Just up you vcore in 1 increment steps and run a Stress test while watching temps to see how far to take voltages. If you can heat 1.55V safely, go for it.
