My Pentium D 805 Information Thread - Page 2

rick, u should try the following, as 3.0 isnt very high for the parts u have:

Start at:
CPU CLOCK: 180x20 (3.6 Ghz)
VCORE: 1.6
(leave all other voltages stock)
Multiplier: (select 3.00 for your board)
PCI-E: 100
RAM: 5-5-5-18

and gradually move the CPU CLOCK towards 200!

ah ur right, give the ram +.2

dont give the chipset more, it doesnt need it, and the pci-e doesnt need it

beleive me well get 4.0 on that thing, not too long ago I was in your position too i was stuck at 3~3.2 ghz on this processor

so far we have the following recipe:
- D805 (best ocing processor)
- Gigabyte DS3 board (best budget oc board)
- G.SKILL ram (which OC very well)

However, a crucial part of ocing is a good PSU with a large amount of amps on a single +12V rail. Like 30+ amps on ONE +12 rail... The CoolMax has 18A on one and 16A on another...so that gives you a total of what maybe 20~22 amps...

the 805 at 4.0 GHZ with the 7600GT(stock) requires a MINIMUM of 26-30 amps!

your PSU might not help us!, but hey lets see how far we can get with it... if u have $100 or so lying around invest it in a GOOD CHEAP OCING PSU:

One of these is fine from newegg:
OCZ GameStream 700W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341002 $110 after rebate (quad 18A rails~~40A or so)

SeaSonic 550W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151027
$129 (quad 18A rails)

Enermax 500W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817194003)
$99 (dual 22A rails)

Ultra 500W 34A ~$70 @ stores

Ultra xConnect2 700W 40A ~$110 @ stores

feel free to IM me on AIM emericaskate46, ill be able to help u with everything

heh the 840 is an EXCELLENT processor, but as many know the 805 as the "King of overclocking" (Tomshardware, Anandtech) , thats why it gets its own thread lol :-p

the settings are also alot diff than yours if im not mistaken , but please if you can give us your settings
