Friends looking to buy a monitor for a new mac and xbox
He's looking to spend about $600
23-30" LCD mainly using it for movies with occasional xbox gaming... if it can be used as a tv, all the better....I'm not exactly too savvy when it comes to monitors... suggestions guys?

Gateway FPD2485 is my recommendation.

Check ElMikeTHeMike's thread in the monitor and display section.

It'll do just what he wants it to do and it's below 600.

And so ya know, they're great with Macs. I use an Apple 23" and 30" at work, daily, and I am happy to run OS X at home on the 24" Gateway.

Girlfriend is also getting a 24" gateway when I get my second one, and she uses a G4 Powerbook to work on.

Great Mac companiona, all-around winner for price, frills, and image quality.
