7900GTX vs 8800GTS - Page 4

If Battlefield 2 is the only game you play, and the only game you will ever play, then get a 320MB 8800GTS.

If you have a LCD/TFT monitor, the best resolution is the native resolution. Games can be forced to run at resolutions not available in the in-game options.

What's the native res of that 19" LCD? Is it a 1280x1024 or a 1440x900 widescreen?

In either case, run the native resolution. Any lesser resolution will look blurry.

An 8800GTS 320MB will handle BF2 easily... no need even for a DX10 card for that game. I am sure an X1950PRO or a 7950GT will do just fine.

Those two will run it like butter... a x800xt can run bf2 maxed out.

1280x1024 sxga
600:1 ratio
thats what it says on my box.
does that mean my 7900gtx is all i need for the game i play or would the gts give me a better fps.
The new card will give you better FPS. But I'll be pretty shocked if your FPS are bad right now.

How smooth is your gameplay, and what are your AA/AF settings and other quality settings.

i dont lag a bit when i play. i have my settings on high with 1280x1024 res 60hz refresh and AA is x4. it gives a quick lag once a while but thats not the issue. i just think that if i have a higher fps then i will get a faster game play. isnt that its main job is?
with my specs i only got a 6100 score with 3DMark06. thats too low i think.
6100 in 3DMark06 is pretty darn good.

Higher FPS doesn't mean faster gameplay. It just means that things look smoother. However, at such high rates, there isn't (barely) any visible difference.

I'd enjoy the single card you have now and game on.

i have the 7900 gtx so whats the point of going to a 8800gts? any thing special about it? like if i could hook up my PS2 and play :S
You should also know that the 8800 allows for HDR with AA on, but the 7900 doesn't.

Does BF2 do HDR?
