Boot Time in Vista - Page 2

post #11 of 19
Thread Starter
Oh, I've defragmented my hard drive about 5 times now. Still slow like a snail.. And around my specs I think it SHOULD go a little faster no?

Edit: I also used that guide at Neowin and other sites as well, so I turned off almost all the services that I don't use. Still slow, but it is faster than when I had all those services running. My physical memory usage is at around 45%, is there any way I can lower it?

Yep it definitely shouldn't be that slow for you. Did you do a clean install or an upgrade?

And is there any way to fix this slow boot time?

(Shutting down time is much faster but a little slower compared to XP still)
What? 7 seconds? Seriously?

Mine usually takes 7 seconds to get past the post screen and start doing the "line thing" before Vista boots. . .

Well, more like 7 - 10 seconds, but yeah, including POST, Load, and Start... it was REALLY fast and I'm not used to this super slowness of Vista.

EDIT: I also did an upgrade, not a clean install, because I didn't have enough money.. -_-;;

Also, when you "turn it off" Press the orange off thingy which is really hibernate. When I do that I press space bar, post and windows loads in a second-two.

i usually make my computer hibernate now instead of shut down because it does take a good 30-40 seconds to cold boot
