AMD Athlon X2 4600+ won't gain more than 31 MHz

ok, so my gigabyte GA-M51GM-S2G MOBO used to not have any overclocking at all. When I updated the BIOS I was able to overclock but not adjust voltages. I can use the BIOS to overclock or use Easy Tune5 which seems easier and has the same features. This is the first CPU I've OC'd and I can't seem to even overclock it more than 31 MHz before it starts making programs fail and if I go even higher I will get a BSOD.

Ok, so my question is is there any program I can use to solve this problem by adjusting voltages or just a better way. I looked all over the forums and it seems this Chip is even hard to OC to 2.6 GHz. So here is what I got (I should tell you I am running Vista Ultimate as well)

AMD Athlon X2 4600+ @ 2.4 GHZ (Stock cooler) idle @ 36C Load @ 48C
Multiplier x12
FSB 200
Voltages VCoreA=1.39 +3.3V= 3.13 +12V=11.79 CPU VID=1.35
Memory 2 GB PNY Single channel 533
GA-M51GM-S2G Mobo

If anything looks funky let me know. I have OCed the RAM to 800 but wanted to single out OCing my CPU right now.

try clocking your RAM alittle lower and give it another try, also monitor your temps and see how the temp at stock clock is first

leave multiplyer at 12, up the FSB to 210~, it should boot and be stable at that. If not...put the ram on a divider(166mhz) and then see if it boots. If it works up the FSB 5~ at a time, when you can't boot up the voltage(ram, cpu, nb chipset)

the lowest I can clock my RAM is 400MHz but I booted at 210MHz and it has been stable so far. Also I can't seem to find a P95 that works in Vista so I just use Folding @ Home instead. Is there anything that will stress it more than that?

ok so now I am at 2.52 GHz and my temps are at 47C for the CPU and 59C for each specific core. Should I stop untill I can get a better cooler? Or can I push the limits a little more? What temps should I watch out for? Thanks I am new and I plan on getting a better cooler by the end of the month. Again thanks for all your help so far!

Don't go over 55 on load. People will tell you 60 or something else but I tend to use the >55 rule.

thank you guys for all your help I have been able to cut my folding @ home times down by 10 seconds! a 33% increase! I am around 2.6 now without any problems and am slowly bumbing it up as I watch temps. On everest it shows the temp of each cor @ ~60C or a little under. Should I back off or should I just follow the main CPU temp (the sensor right inbetween the fan and heatsink) which is at ~50C

Hopefully I can learn enough to help others out here.
