Should I sell my SLI?

Thread Starter
Ive had two 7590gt's in SLI for less than a month. Im not really satisfied with the boost in performance, even at high resolution. Theres not really a noticable difference in gameplay either(maybe a few more fps). Should i sell them and upgade to 8 series(8800gtx)? Will I even get better performance with my cpu, or should i wait for something else?

as i remember reading, an 8800 has slightly less performance than what you got. but you prolly wouldn't notice it anyways, and the 8800 uses less power, so that would be my choice. oh! and the DX10 would be nice to have

you should sell the two 7950GT's, then buy a 8800GTS 640mb then try and overclock your opty a bit higher so you can free up the 8800GTS performance without much of a bottleneck

An 8800GTX would be faster than what you have right now and it would put less stress on the CPU cause it wouldnt have to manage 2 cards. Plus you get DX10 support as a bonus
Very nice!

to be fair in most games you will see NO performance increase unless you have a big monitor, as it will just be bottlenecked

Also 2 7950 would do better with a better cpu (intel). Your CPU is is holding you back.IMO

Yea, Ill prob sell. If i get a gts itll be an even trade, but if i go gtx ill probably pay an extra $150-$200. I think my setup is comparable to the GTS, and i need more performance. Will the GTX be that much better?

Not without a better CPU.

Are you planning to upgrade the cpu as well? If not, you will see little to no performance boost between a GTS and GTX.

No, a GTS will be just fine.

If you can afford the GTX then yes get it, but if not then the GTS is a good choice.

IMO the GTX isn't worth the extra performance for the price you pay.

And your CPU doesn't bottleneck the card that much anyways. Just try and OC it a bit more, if you get 2.5 @ 1.27Vcore i'm pretty sure you can reach 2.7 at 1.4Vcore if not more
