What is happenning to my rig?

Thread Starter
Here is my situation,

I am running socket 939, Athlon 64 4000+ 2.4(oc'ed to 2.8). I just ran Prime 95 for 3 hours and 17 minutes with no errors. However, when I open My Computer, Windows explorer takes ~20 seconds, one of my dvd drives won't play disks, and during 3d mark 05, my computer shut down. I just ordered a pc power and cooling silencer 610. Please tell me this will fix the problem. My current PSU is Antec true power2.0 450W.Any advice or guesses?

AMD/ATI is the future!

The PS could do it, have you checked the rails?
Weak out put can have adverse effects on the HDDs drive motor!
Undervolted motors are likened to slowly starving a person to death

Windows can do the strangest things to your computer... If you have Windows on it's own partition I'd might try to format and reinstall if I where you.. If you do not you still might wanna consider it..

Are there any errors in the event log?
Do Explorer.exe crash?
Do you have enabled automatic boot on critical errors? If yes on the last one that will probobly explain any sudden rebooting and if you disable it you will see a BSOD. That might not mean there is a problem with your hardware but since you have so many problems it might be Windows if you're lucky or it could be your mobo/PSU.

I'm not an expert but I know that these things may cause several problems in your rig if something is wrong with them.
