Getting started...

Thread Starter
Hi

I'm new to this whole overclocking thing. I want to do it on the cheap and see how I go.

I'm thinking a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3, Intel Pentium E2140, and Kingston Value 667. I've got a Blue Orb II that was given to me so I thought I'd use that since I'm on a budget.

What would everyone else recommend starting out with and what could I expect from that?

For a starter is that as cheap as you can go, is an AMD Brisbane 3600+ a better place to start?

Thanks

Its a great way to learn to OC, that 3600+. If you plan on OCing alot, try to get some ddr2800 ram. It can be had unbelievably cheap at the moment for a nice 2gb kit. Newegg (even though you are aus) has 2gb kits for under 100 now, and decent ones at that! That would help your overclocking Intel wise as the FSB get into some pretty high numbers. Good choice for mobo and cpu, though. That cooler should do you OK aswell.
