Cases for Water Cooling

Thread Starter
Alright, I don't think my current Armor Jr will cut it. So I need a new case for my upcoming liquid cooling project.

Requirements are:

No taller than 19 3/8" tall please, this has to go into a desk.
Any color, but some blue in it would be nice.

Usually I would know what to buy when it comes to cases, but I am pretty stumped here. I know the Antec 900 has holes in the case for tubes to go through, I just have to check the height of it.

Thanks!

Why don't you find a case that you like and put your own holes in it? All it would take is a dremel and a little practice before you cut the final hole. That would also allow you to put them where it is most convenient for you.

I was thinking about using a hole saw on my current case, I was just wondering what cases may be good for WC.

Pretty much any case will do. I used a 1 1/2'' hole saw to make holes for my tubing on my case.

Any case will fit water-cooling if it's a full ATX. You can fit a WC set into a Mid-tower like a CM Centurion 5/Armor Jr. but it's a very tight fit and usually limited to one loop with a small sized reservoir and a 360 radiator.

Also, the Antec 900 has less space for water-cooling than the Armor Jr. does. You should consider the new revision of the P180. More space than the 900, easier to work with, but still requires modding for a decent double loop.

What you have to remember is that stuffing a case into a desk with a WC set up is almost always going to limit your cooling no matter what.

Air cooling on the ground with a lower ambient temp will give comparable cooling performance to a water-cooling single loop stuffed into a case.

Do you want a full tower or a mid-tower?
Good full towers are Thermaltake Armor, Chieftec Dragon, Stacker 810, Lian Li V1000. I mean, a price range is nice and more than a size limitation. I highly doubt you'll be able to stuff a WC case into a desk anyway, with the radiator sticking out.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I just measured my case and it looks like it will be an easy fit. It is just a single loop cooling, with a 240 Black Ice GTX radiator.
Mid-tower would be nice.

Ill put my scrap up high on my desk to see that it looks like. Thanks.

I'm thinking about just putting my scrap on top of my desk and getting a stacker. I loathe my armor at times, just because I have to mod everything to get stuff to line up perfectly.

In my opinion, the Silverstone TJ07 is the perfect water cooling case. You can easily fit a 120.3 radiator and pump in the bottom section along with your PSU. I'm going to get one of these cases and set up a nice water cooling rig when Barcelona comes out.

Here's some pics showing the potential of this case. They're from Theorie on [H]ardForum:
