Networking Windows and Ubuntu - Page 2

I need to update that page. A little more info on the photo. I am in the US Air Force and live in base housing. They just built this house last year. They already installed the ethernet wires throughout the house. It's awesome.

Anyway i didn't get my last question answered. Is there anyway to disable the WI-FI on the router? Like i said i don't want to buy a wired router later to discover i'm buying a laptop. So is there anyway to do so?

Just looked at the pdf for it and it says that you can disable it.

You don't need to disable it. It should work perfectly either way. I guess you could disable wireless by not specifying any wireless settings.
As for Beryl, the minimum specs. (in my opinion) are a 500MHz CPU, 512MB RAM, and a decent GPU. Beryl is more of a CPU and RAM hog rather than a GPU one; I've seen people running it on integrated chips with decent performance.

It doesn't use too much RAM... and actually decreases my CPU load when moving windows around on the desktop, compared to moving windows around without.

The rendering is just really simple, so you don't need an awesome graphics card to run it, but it's still using that GPU much more than CPU.

If you're not using wireless, then disable it. It's just one more way for people to hack into your system. I know on some routers it's enabled by default and security isn't setup.

Maybe, but I've noticed more of a performance decrease when I downclock my CPU than when I downclock my GPU. RAM too; I started with 128MB and could barely run it; went to 512MB and stopped getting slowdowns (but still had to run at low settings); went to 1GB and everything was perfect afterwards.
