AVAST, free and light, paired with COMODO firewall, also free and better than zone alarm but has a very similiar interface. Free upgrades for life with these two...... btw, uninstall norton by uninstall 1st, then go around hunting through your hdd and manually delete all norton related stuff, its a ***** to completely remove.....

NOD32 is very complex but extremley reliable I garuntee. I havent had a trojan or a virus on my 2 Dell desktops, this computer, and my laptop in the past year!

My parent's laptop and desktop on the other hand have had several trojan infections within the past month with McAfee. Even with the trojan active on the desktop, McAfee failed to see it in both the scan and activity. Once I start NOD32 up, it eliminates them upon the first scan. AVG saw it but couldnt rid of it and Ad-Aware 2007 also came up with the trojan upon scan but couldn't delete or quarenteen it.

My parents still refuse to have NOD32 because they dont trust me. XD

If you have problems setting up NOD32, they have an excellent guide on doing so. Just google Black NOD32 guide. After looking a little bit, you should find a forums like Secure.net or something with some guy named BlackSpear. He has an entire 30 post guide w/ pictures on setting up the most advanced security on NOD32. I would provide the link, but I g2g. If I have time, I'll post it.

I think paying for AV programs is crazy. Even if you seriously think Nod32 is SOOOOOOOO much better than AVG and Avast, what in god's name are you doing to get all these crazy viruses that those two would miss??

I have had exactly 0 viruses since I have had AVG, which has been a number of years, and I downloaded just about everything I have running on my computer off of torrent sites. They can throw all these viruses at these programs running old definitions and say, "Oh look, Nod32 caught one the others missed," but in all honesty what does that really mean?? You'd have to be trying to get a virus if you find something that AVG or Avast won't catch but another AV program would have.

Just my opinion I guess

I apologize, but is virus software really necessary, I mean, since I built my rig I have had no anti virus software on it at all, I even disable windows' security(it gets in the way at lan parties), and in all of the thousands of hours I have clocked in on the internet I've gotten a virus once, and that was through limewire. I promptly rooted it out in the registry and destroyed it. So I ask again is the vs worth the space and clock cycles it takes up?

The whole 30MB and .001% CPU usage it takes. Wooooo.

You're a moron if you go to a lan party with all that stuff disabled anyway, my friend goes to those lan partys and its people like you that hes gets GB after GB of data from VERY easily.

Because its no where near the best... Its just popular. AVG isn't that good in terms of how many virus it catches compared to the ones in the poll, and it also detects alot of things that arn't viruses.
