For the record, I use Linux and Unix on a daily basis because of work, and I still prefer Windows due to its ease of use and larger compatibility.
I have used both linux and windows for a long time, and all I have enjoyed both. From my perspective, it is definitely more fun to tinker around with linux, however for home and even office use Windows is king. I can't think of one area where linux outdoes windows in the home or office setting.
As for restarting, you can actually just restart explorer through your task manager and avoid a complete reboot in most cases.
Also, I absolutely love Windows Vista.
