qft

I have used both linux and windows for a long time, and all I have enjoyed both. From my perspective, it is definitely more fun to tinker around with linux, however for home and even office use Windows is king. I can't think of one area where linux outdoes windows in the home or office setting.

As for restarting, you can actually just restart explorer through your task manager and avoid a complete reboot in most cases.

Also, I absolutely love Windows Vista.

Don't use an illegal copy of Windows If your copy is legit it will activate via the internet no problem

Not entirely true. After a certain amount of reinstallations it will say that it can't activate online. My legit copy of XP Home stopped activating after a while. I had to phone Microsoft and speak to one of the staff who made it ok.

I use linux because I like it. I like using the Command Line and having total control over my system. I like how customisable it is and I like the Open Source movement.

I think Windows is a fine OS, I just don't really like the company that produce it. Windows has the majority market share for a reason, because its easy to use and doesn't have alot of hassle, I just don't think its for me.

linux is more aimed at business use than anything else IMO, even though SuSe do produce a home version, for compatability, ease of use, gaming and for updating Win XP/Vista is the better option for home usages

Put it this way...

Servers - Linux / Unix / whatever..

Home PC -> Windows.

Video Editing Station that has to use that apple software -> OSX..

OSX is a failure.

No, it's not. It's USING it... Being effective and at work. RAM in XP just sits there till you start loading the PC. In Vista it utilizes ram to make your computer faster before load and during load and after load.
