So Ubuntu works fine, but a clean formatted windows does'nt.

Can it be some kind of driver incompatibility?

there should be no such thing as driver imcompability for windows xp. its been out for how long? and is the default and most widely used OS. so if any aftermarket component is made its definently made to work with windows. there should be no such thing as driver incompatiblity. but im sure once in a while windows will act funny to some sort of hardware. hehe

i guess he went to work or somthing

Questions:
Is your pc slow as hell?
Does it give any error?
If you run (in start button + R) services.msc) do you see the RPC service running? or any service set to disabled?
If via task manager you kill explorer as well as all programs not directly related to windows: Msnmssgr.exe iexplore.exe etc.
then run explorer.exe again, do you still have the problem.

All these questions point to something software related.

Try booting in safe mode and see if you have the same problems (point to som dodgy software).

And if you have a os that runs and boots via cd (ubuntu or something) does that give you problems too?
is my pc slow no
give any error no
all settings and services are default
I dont have ubuntu

You can download Ubuntu (or other forms of linux that come as bootable cds.) and burn it as an ISO image onto cd. Then if you make your cdrom bootable and boot it up you can see how well that works.

If you experience strange problems still then it will more than likely be a hardware issue. If the software performs fine then Windows was more than likely having issues.

7.04 is the new version - Feisty Fawn I believe. I'm currently running 6.10 (Edgy Eft) on a laptop. But you can give this a shot. The download is around 700MB.

EDIT: I just went into a Linux fit and upgraded to 7.04 and downloaded Knoppix and SuSE.

Seriously, burn a copy of Ubuntu and Live boot from it to see if your mouse works in another OS.
