Don't use baby wipes. They have other chemicals on there and it will leave residue on your CPU. I never really used alcohol to clean the old paste off mine, just some paper towels and a lot of wiping

And do you mean AS5 instead of LS5?

You can try toothpicks if the paste is almost impossible to get off. Just make sure not to scratch the top of the IHS or anything.

i use Ronsonol lighter fuel (same stuff that goes in my zippo) works great!!

You can see the lighter fuel almost melt off the old paste... kinda trippy to watch....

lighter fluid?? i can only imagine what that would do if it wasnt dry and you turned the comptuer back on.... i can see it now, computer dies of flame incident.

dont use baby wipes. dont. you can use pretty much any kind of cloth or towel, just make sure you can get something small enough that your fingers can hold on to sturdily.

Take a napkin, wipe, take a napkin, wipe again, take one last napkin, wipe it one last time. Do this for both the CPU and the heat sink.

No water or anything is needed.

Hi.

a xylene-based cleaner works very well. It evaporates immediately.

If you need a common household item, then rubbing alcohol will do.

A lint-free cloth is also recommended.

Coffee filters work well if you dont have any other lint-free cloth.
