OCed D930 67C hot. Is that too much?

I made it to OC my D930 to 270MHz X 15 = 4050MHz. It was 62C hot at full load and 45C on idle. I was messing around checking if I can go higher and the highest I made up to now is 280X 15 = 4200MHz. Although now at full load it hits 67C and sometimes drops to 66C for a little and other goes up to 68C for a little again. On idle its 54C. I was wondering if its ok to leave it that hot.

i would consider the idle to be a bit high and the load to be acceptable.

and knowing nothing about your cooler, assuming it's a high-end one, i would say the next step to cooler temps would be WC

I consider my cooler to be a very good one and back then when I bought it it was one of the top along with Scythe Ninja (almost a year ago) Since then appeared other better coolers though. I wonder if I should drop back to 4.050MHz. All I gained is 10 FSB on CPU and 33FSB on RAM (not that I think its little). Also I do not use this computer all the time. Mostly to play games and then I switch to my other less powerful computer that its a 24/7 one for downloads.

Update: I left my PC for a little and it dropped to 49C on idle.

Further Update. I dropped the voltage for the CPU from 1.50 to 1.40 and the temperature fell to 65 on full load (on idle its still 49). What bothers me now is the I just realized my Motherboard temerature is at 47C. Is this bad? I wonder because Asus PC Probe II shows it red.

No they don't. The 9xx series of pentium D is a much cooler running cpu than the 8xx series. You can't just make blanket statements that refer to both. That being said, if you want to go over 4ghz with that cpu, you will need good water cooling.

So at worst whats the top temperature I should allow if I went over 4GHz?

Keep it below 60C at load.

And get your idle's down.

Perhaps you can get more airflow in the case itself, I always get some sort of overpressure in (meaning more air pushed in than out), always give me some cooler loads

Honestly, if it was mine, I'd leave it. Temps don't really bother me. I've had my Core 2 Duo up to 77C and it's perfectly fine.

Everyone will probably say under 65 or 60C depending on who you ask, but it's fine IMO. If you're worried about it, reseat your heatsink to make sure, get a SilenX 90CFM fan, and get some better airflow.

Or just downclock.

Both of the fans installed on the heatsink of the CPU blow to the back and exactly on the exaust. One of the side fans blows on the heatsink too. Also another side fan blows on the GPU which uses exhaust type fan and there is another extra exhaust fan on the back.

Do you have a front intake?

It's not completely related, but will definitely help cooling more components.
