Oh... if you don't know how to drive/fly... don't. Go on an empty server to practice and earn the maps. Nothing is worse than a n00b pilot who does not know how to fly with a loaded dropship.

If you don't know how to lead a squad... don't. Join a squad and learn first. If the squad leader does not set attack/defend orders, drop beacons, and/or is not top 10 on the team, leave the squad since he is a n00b.

My recommendations:
  • Always be aware of what is going on around you. Situational awareness is key to doing well in FPS game.
  • If you are a medic HEAL! If you are a support class GIVE AMMO! If you are an engineer REPAIR! I can't tell you how annoying it is when I sit in front of a medic or support class and scream for ammo / health and they just stare at me. Use all aspects of your kit all the time. Pay attention to people's health / ammo status.
  • Unlock and enjoy the AR-rocket. It is the best thing for a new player to learn. Very powerful weapon.
  • Never get in the Goliath.
  • Never fly a limited transport on top of a roof for your own sniping enjoyment. I can't tell you how annoying it is when someone takes the only transport in Bridge of Lepzing onto a roof so that they can sniper from it. First of all, everyone knows you are up there because they see the big old transport ship. Secondly, you prevent people like me from getting 100+ kills in the transport.
  • Run away from Walkers / APC. They are very powerful at killing infantry.
  • Never fight a Walker from close range in a tank. Tanks can ONLY beat a Walker from a distance.
  • If you are fighting a tank in a walker, zig zag. They will miss your bullets.
  • NEVER spawn on an air transport. Your average life expectancy in an air transport is less than 5 seconds and your chances of survival are less than 1/10.
  • Don't shoot friendlies.

With the walker and PAC hover tank.... circle strafe is your friend at close range. You will win 90% of the time in a one-on-one vehicle situation if you can master it.

Use the Goliath as a mobile spawn beacon. You can out walk/run it. DO NOT SIT IN IT. Only a n00b would ride it to get to the next flag. If the Goliath is full, get out so other soldiers can spawn in it (and hopefully get out).

I call the Goliath the "n00b van" or "n00b tours." It attracts every noob in town who thinks they can rush the PAC team with it. That is why I say avoid it at all costs. You will just die very quickly.

If you know what you are doing the Goliath is very powerful. The driver needs communications with the two main gunners. Never use the Goliath as an assault vehicle. Rather, it should be used as a spawn point and support for infantry, from a distance.

Well, I know how to fly. Learned that in BF2 I fly circles around most others

One question: How do you revive someone as Assault/Medic?

You need to unlock the revive tool.

I didn't realize you had BF2 experience.

Shoot in bursts. This helps control recoil, i hold it for one second at a tiem, then a QUICK, very quick pause and restart, just to get the aim down.

Don't lie down to shoot, it takes a longer time to get back up if you need to run and is minimally more accurate. Only lie down if you're being shot at.

If you are medic, you need to unlock the defibrulator, by far my most used upgrade. You pull out a little triangle thingy and point it at the chest of your fallen comrade, then click, and hes back alive. Sometimes, it may take a couple tries to get him up and moving again.

Yup, I drive the Goliath now and then for my badge. Do not pull the Goliath up to a flag for capture. It is too easy to get trapped or surrounded by spawning Recon/Engineers. Instead, sit off at a distance and out of range of rail guns. Then scream at your passengers "BAIL OUT" over and over. They should advance on foot to capture the flag while the Goliath provides cover/support.

Aim for the chest and you will have to do it only once.

Also, crouch when using the defibrillator. You do not need to go prone to use it. Since the enemy might still be around, going prone will slow you down too much. The defibrillator has like a .5s charge time before it actually fires. If you get the timing down, you can run, fire it as you crouch, revive, and run again very quickly.
