shadowrun - Page 3

I had the same issue of a steep learning curve with every online game I ever played. It's the nature of the beast. There are going to be people who play way too much. Just be happy BF2 has a ranking system like Halo 2 did. In CS:S, there is no rank system, and really good players sometimes troll the "noobs only" servers just to feel good about themselves. Of course, people still de-rank on purpose to play lower level people, and such, but at least there is some form of system to try to separate teh 1337 from teh n00bs.

Looks like no story mode, multiplayer only play...

You can play offline vs Bots though... Or on the XBox 360, Syslink / Splitscreen...

You're only 16, so they wouldn't let you get it here!

Anyone know if they are going to make these a digital purchase type of thing (like FilePlanet's Direct2Drive)? I live pretty far from town and hate having to drive an hour just to get a game.... and downloading it is soooooooo much easier!

You want to talk about unfair, consider that fact that Shadowrun offers a certain level of aim assistance to the console players to put them on a level playing field with the PC gamers in Live matches. This isn't just something I heard or read on some obscure web site. I read it as a direct quote from one of the Shadowrun devs in either PC Gamer or Computer Gaming Magazine just a few months ago.

Anyone still want to debate which game controller (console gamepad or mouse/keyboard) is superior?

Everyone has the option of having improved aiming (both console and PC) through purchase of a SmartLink under tech. (which allows you to lock onto a target)

As far as console specifics... *shrug*

OK, found it:

With such a setup, gameplay balance between platforms is of course of crucial importance. Shadowrun played with an Xbox 360 controller uses essentially the same aiming system used in Bungie's Halo games, with the same programmers handling the task on both franchises. Contrary to frequent casual internet remarks, Halo (and by extension Shadowrun) does not feature "auto-aim," per se; rather, its reticle has slight traction applied as it passes over a target, causing it to slow very slightly and make precise movements more manageable. Hitboxes are also slightly exaggerated.
Basically, its more of a leveling of the playing field than an advantage, since a PC gamer with keyboard / mouse will generally have better aim than a consoler with a controller without software aid...
