Sound like your temp is 54Cº. CoreTemp is actually more accurate than IntelTAT because TAT is for the Pentium M iirc.

Quote:
Intel defines a certain Tjunction temperature for the processor. In the case of Yonah it is 85C° or 100C°. First of all the program reads from a Model Specific Register (or MSR), and detects the Tjunction temperature. A different MSR contains the temperature data, this data is represented as Delta in C° between current temperature and Tjunction.

So the actual temperature is calculated like this 'Core Temp = Tjunction - Delta'

The size of the data field is 7 bits. This means a Delta of 0 - 127C° can be reported in theory. But from preliminary tests, the reported temperature doesn't go below 0C°, no matter what kind of cooling was used.
54Cº makes sense as you would need a pretty decent air setup to keep the core 2Cº above ambient.

Well one of them should be your NB temp.

But i read somewhere that you +15C if you are using speedfan because it isn't compatible with C2D.

However Everest is a good monitor but seems to go from the same sensor as speedfan most of the time (which is on the mobo, not the CPU itself) so i wouldn't beleive it.

Besides, when my CPU goes to about 50+ my HSF is cold aswell so that may not be a good guide.

Beleive CoreTemp to be on the safe side, until you can get TAT to work because it seems like the only true monitor for C2D

You want to touch the heatpipes, not the fins. It's incredibly obvious that the fins will be ice cold, with a friggin FAN blowing over them. But at idle, not even the heatpipes are going to be that warm.

And I agree that 29C is fine, taking into account your ambient temp, assuming the heatsink makes good contact with the IHS, and you have very good airflow.

Run Orthos or Prime95 on both cores and see which temp rises the fastest, that'll tell you which is your CPU

I Also have the AC7 and E6600, and my temps are exactly the same as yours.
I'm clocked at 3.0, my load temps are around 52, and vcore is 1.325v.

Yours sounds pretty accurate to me.
