i have an abit AW9D-MAX mobo,and i had 2x wd 160gb hard drive in raid 0 now i have just bought 2 new hard drives 2x seagate barracudas 250gb 16mb cache,i have set the barracudas up in raid 0 so i want the other 2 160gb drives for storage music films and other stuff but windows wont detect them this mobo has 7 sata ports on it 4 of them are intel and 3 of them are silicon image when i plug them in they will not show up in my computer but they show up in device manager and in hardware properties can anyone help me solve this problem because its driving me nuts

Did you put the 160GB one's back in raid0 else you would have to format em.

how do you format them if windows can not detect them? do i have to load xp and format them that way?

right click my computer --> select "manage" --> "storage" (the middle one) --> "disk management"

your hdds should show up in here... if they do, you need to click on the drives and click on format...

if the drives were setup in a RAID 0, and want to run the drives independently, then you do need to reformat the drives...

did it work? did you get stuck in setting up the drive letters or something??

I pointed you to the "Admin" part of windows, where you can do anything you want... so there are way more choices in setting up hdds and such...

EDIT: one second to slow... lol... glad it worked...
