771 Socket CPU's in 775 MB

Thread Starter
I know sometimes certain 771 CPU's will run in certain 775 MOBO's..

I have a 5130 and a 5335 I would liek to try to run in a 680i board for grins.

Anyone know is thats doable?

I am running a E6400.. you would think the 5335 would be a step up..

You can't use a socket 771 processor in a socket 775 motherboard. Although the sockets look similar there are distinct pin differences that make theses socket types incompatible. If you run your hardware you will fry your processor/motherboard or other valuable hardware.

there is a guy on this board that is using a Xeon 771 in a 775 Board.

it is a hit and miss thing, but some 771's can work in some 775's.

Are you positive about that? There are LGA775 versions of the Xeon Processor.
