Should I trade my X6800 for a Q6600 + $400?

It depends on the application. The quad would kill in folding and other applications that can harness the power of all four cores. The X6800 will likely OC better, so if you don't run multi-threaded apps, the dual core would be a better choice.

If you can get a quad plus $400, that's a killer deal. I would have done that in a second if it was offered to me before I sold my X6800.

yeah, crysis and alan wake are able to utilize all four cores. You wont be able to max out either without a quadcore.

argh don't even trade a x6800 for a QX6700

The fact is the x6800 overclocks better and no game coming out anytime soon will be able to utilize the extra cores, meaning it is dead weight dumping more heat into your cooling system (from a gamers perspective).

By the time any game comes out that will use it, there will be better CPUs out there anyway.

If you really want to get quad core now, get the QX6800. Best to wait though.
