X6800 or Q6600 - Page 2

Yeah ^^ They're very scarse.
Seems a good deal to me .. plus $400?! With quad-core?!
Go for it!

The fact is the x6800 overclocks better and no game coming out anytime soon will be able to utilize the extra cores, meaning it is dead weight dumping more heat into your cooling system (from a gamers perspective).

By the time any game comes out that will use it, there will be better CPUs out there anyway.

If you really want to get quad core now, get the QX6800. Best to wait though.
LOL! It looks like the two people above you disagree.

heh that's cool

Just putting out a different perspective, always useful when making a big decision like this.

Crysis isn't coming for a while yet.

See post #6. "As good as" depends entirely upon the application.

I'm stuck with a measly dual core, so it doesn't matter to me if a program can utilize all 4 cores or only 2. I just thought it was funny that two people said one thing and then like 30 seconds later someone says the exact, polar opposite.

Crysis can handle a quad core, so it will outperform a dual core. Multi-threaded benchmarks will do better on the quad; other benchmarks will do better on a dual since a dual will general OC further. In terms of the deal, you're essentially getting retail value in cash and trade, which is a great deal.
