I'm sure overtime HD will become mainstream if HDTV's keeping going down in cost, but such high resolutions are absurd, there's nothing being broadcasted in that resolutions. There's barely a few channels in HD, and thats 1080i not 1080p. Japanese ppl invent a lot of cool stuff but look at their economy . I kinda feel sorry for them.

They can hardly be credited for inventing 4k, maybe coming up with this particular standard for higher resolution video. These things are not invented, they are specified.

bottom line, content. What, feature films are the only thing that translates to those resolutions now.
