Intel Pentium E2140 Dual Core Processor Review - Page 4

Ok for one guys simmer down, and NamelessMC not to get in a truffle with ya but never say "this is fact until proven so" when you are just quoting some reviews from people you have never scene that are posting up some stuff on the internet.
It has well been known that some of the 4300 cpu's have a fsb wall and it has nothing to do with temps or anything else its just the cpu has a fsb wall that you arent going to get around. There are alot of people that have gotten very high with these guys ,mself included but on average people seem to run into a wall at 350 to 390 fsb which puts you at the 3.1 and above range but not usually above 3.4 or 3.5.

Now as far as removing the lid no you dont have to just lap the cpu, the reason people get such bad temps (usually) is because of the concave IHS and Ill have to say it because alot of people dont know how to mount a cpu worth a .., so in most cases lapping the cpu which is something that will and has helped ALL c2d chips soldered or thermal pasted on.

Now yes if you remove the IHS just like the amd chips it will help temps but by no means is it necessary to get to 2.8 or 3.0 or 3.2 on air. And remember that as allways every chip is different so you arent going to be getting the same oc as joe smoe over at super forums just because you have the same setup.

My thoughts on these guys with the little cache is hey they will probably oc farther with less volts due to the fact they have less cache then there counterparts hence the 100% oc's you can see around that these guys are doing. You start adding more and more cache and its going to be harder and harder for you to get that percentage overclock out of a chip unless its a real nice one and you get lucky. However the extra cache wins though since you need what about 300mhz to equal 2mb cache difference or something close to that and even more for going from 1mb to 4mb.
For a internet machine or your everyday basic computer these will be a great option if you want but for as cheap as the 4mb cache cpus are even if you only get up to 2.8ghz or 3.0 its worth it to me since the performance will be comparable to a much higher oced 1mb cpu

And I mean as in, not "he was right because his opinion was different", I mean, proven wrong as in someone literally proved me wrong and I didn't admit I was wrong.

Go ahead, find it.

Because otherwise, you're doing EXACTLY what I'm getting tired of. Saying things about me that are false, and passing them off as fact, and a bunch of just-as-pretentious people come in and say, "Agreed" blah blah "Yea, that's true", but no one posts facts to these oblivious claims.

I have backed up Nameless on many occasions, and have agree with a lot of his "rants".

But I also agree that nearly every thread I see him in - it ends in a battle.
Nameless- you have a great rep around here- don't ruin it starting battles.
You have about as much as anyone else does, so nobody is going to "win".

Just relax. The world is not out to get you.
I really am dissappointed in some of the threads I have seen you in.
They always end in flaming, and upset people. Just relax.
The new chips are great. And cheap.
And e4300/e4400 are great as well, with more cache. They may not OC as much, but the extra cache makes them better in other cases.

Remember: The whole world does not OC.
If someone wanted a cheap CPU - and realized the e4300 had more cache and more speed, for just a tad more $... why not?

And I've never said otherwise. My point is that from the thread's start, people ran in and started comparing the 4300 to the E2140/2160. and when I give my thoughts on the exact same issue, suddenly *I"M* posting off topic? Double standards always rub me the wrong way.

My point is, people keep making baseless quick statements without facts about every single topic and I'm getting fed up with it.

"AMD is dying", "4300 can hit 3 ghz easily", "Vista sucks!", "Rosewill PSU's are crap".

It seems like every section of the forum I go to, another person is passing off hear-say as fact or jumping to irrational conclusions.

E4300- great processor
E2140/2160 - also a great processor
But don't run in and claim one thing or another about them beyond their stock performance unless you know for a fact what it's capable of.

That's all I'm saying.

Like a Whopper Jr. compared to a Whopper.

Same architecture, same clocks per cycle, but just a cut down L2 cache and lower clock frequency.

The E2160 at 1.8GHZ performs about on par with the E4300 at 1.8GHZ, but in some applications the E4300 is better.

I'd imagine the performance hit between 2mb L2 and 4mb L2 is just as minuscule as the performance hit between 1mb L2 and 2mb L2. Very circumstantial.

Nameless, one poster reported that he had oc'ed 4 such processors and yet you demanded screenies and blah blah blah blah blah... It's not his responsibility to burden proof for his own experiences. We're all in these forums together mate. Have a little more respect for your fellow OC'ers.

Here's the problem with that... there are over 40 THOUSAND members on OCN.
You can't stop it. Plain and simple.
That's like saying, you, yourself, are going to stop the war in Iraq.
It just won't happen - there is too much opposition... in this case it happens to be dumb people. Just like I went into a thread titled TFORCE 550 SUCKS! and told them flat out- it does not, and they should not say they all SUCK if only their specific board has issues.

The difference here is that YOU are trying to stop all of it.
You can't bro... just relax, live your life, and keep the beliefs you have, because I tend to agree with you on basically everything.
You can't change the world, you can only try and make it better. And thinking you CAN change it, will only make it worse.
