So the only advantage the X-box had in terms of loading capacity was it's hard drive? and I never bothered to get one for my PS2's?

Check it out. Though the Xbox had a better GPU so thats why the games looked better.

The Wii will probobly outsell the PS3, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the hardware, more just the pricetag...
Thats really what this whole thread is about.

Either way, if the Playstation is reliable, I'll get it once it has proven to be, I won't get a 360 and I'd get a Pentium 4 before I got a Wii.
Whats wrong with the 360 and the Wii? Dont be a fanboy. I had all of last gens consoles...PS2, Xbox and the Gamecube and they were all great.
Very nice!

I dont like the X-box, and that has nothing to with me being a fanboi or not..
I just can't play with the X-box controller.. here's an example..

I was visiting a friend, he complained about this mission on Mafia he couldn't complete, and I completed the game on both PS2 and PC. So I thought, it would be easy but it was impossible. XD
I just couldn't, hat damn controller...

About the Wii.. it has less power than a P4 so why wouldn't I? Evolotion (one might call it that) makes stuff better, not worse...

So.. if I don't like to play on the X-box, I think the Wii don't have good enough hardware while I don't like the games on it, come on, Pokemon?? Mario?? I'm too old for that

That leaves two things.. I could get a PS2, which has my favorite games (Grand Turismo, MGs, FF, etc.) if it proves to be reliable, hell I would even get a BR player with it. If it is not reliable.. it leaves one thing for me, computers.

And btw, the point of this thread is to discuss weather or not the PS3 is toast or doomed.. but..

Are you saying the X-box had a CPU that had less than 300MHz????????????
That's nothing... Thats, close enough to 486 rigs for me... Ok it is 5 times better but... meh..

PS3 is going to have some great games, just not at launch. MGS 4, Final Fantasy XIII (granted not coming out until Q4 2008) and Assassins Creed all look great. Other than having a ****ty online play experience, I'm quite happy with my PS3. It play's my BR's excellently (which is currently it's main function), and it will deliver on franchise games that I love...plus it play's my "old" PS2 fav's while upping the quality a bit.

Xbox 360 merely has Halo 2 (soon to be 3), and that could never IMO beat out CS:S (which rules much of my computing time).

So it comes down to the money (obviously the point of the this whole thread). Is $600 worth it? Well it's worth it to most of us for the computer components we love to upgrade - why not on a console with both power and functionality?

October is a LONG time away... to be honest. And that, to me, is when the good games start coming out.

Sigh.

You think the 360 only has Halo 2?! How long have you been living under that rock of yours?

You are completely ignoring the multitude of other games available on the 360 as well as the huge assortment coming out before the end of this year, it's clear you either 1. don't have any backup for your argument and/ or 2. are clearly biased towards another product.

The only game I would be interested on the Xbox 360 is Halo 2/3. I'm content with the other gaming content on the PS2/3 (and looking forward to upcoming titles). I was merely stating my take, and certainly don't live under a rock in terms of Xbox games :-D. The PS3 seems worth it to me (who obviously places equal value on media playback and games) - it justifies the higher cost.

When PC's are, more and more, becoming a central part of a home theater system, I like it when consoles follow suit and at least integrate a nice blue laser drive.

Oh, and I am totally biased - I've been a playing a Playstation for quite a while and they have hooked me with their exclusive games (namely Final Fantasy series). Not that I haven't had good X360 gaming experiences, or that the Wii sucks...simply that I'm a cinephile + gamer, in that order.

The Xbox had a 733MHz CPU but the PS2s 300MHz CPU did alot more work per clock. Kinda like comparing a C2D to a P4.

That's fine and all zogg but you can't simply say the 360 offers nothing just because you don't want it. MGS and FF on 360 rumors are just that, rumors. But you never know, it may happen. And Assassin's Creed is being released on the 360 as well. And there are a plethora of games coming out later this year. Bioshock, Mass Effect, etc.

As for blue lasers, that's what the HD-DVD addon is there for. The HD-DVD addon is an addon for several reasons. One major factor being that those who want it can buy it separately at their own cost. This way, potential 360 consumers aren't left out in the cold just because they can't afford the more expensive 360 because it comes with an expensive part that they may not want/ need.

Anyway, most of the talk in this thread is off topic. Everyone might as well put any possible arguments, not to mention current ones, to rest.

Did you really just say that??? There is no bigger 360 fanboy than you on OCN. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I don't care, but you're totally the kettle calling the pot black there.

I own all three consoles. As far as I'm concerned, the latest PS3 firmware update officially made the PS3 better than the 360 in terms of functionality. Everything the 360 does, the PS3 does better. Anyone will tell you that.

Now games are another story...maybe. Over time better PS3 games will come out, and we all know they will. I'm looking forward to Home. That's gonna be big.

The Wii is fun, but the grpahics are soooooooo terrible. So 1999ish. After playing 360 and PS3 games, then playing Zelda...it's hard for me to fully enjoy it just because the visuals are so crappy.

Give me a PC controller and BF2, please don't bring a Wii in here, ok? seriously, I am considering a Wii but I really don't think I'll play it much, if ever. 700MHz is so old now.. and there will have to be more than a fancy controller, Zelda XVIIIII, Super Mario 167 and Pokemon something to keep me playing a console. I didn't like Nintendo when I was 10, and I don't like them now. A pity really, they sorta invented console gaming which I love but I never liked Nintendo's games.

I'm into shooters, racing sims, RTS a little RPG and RTS again

Hmm how many RTS games do I have on this comp? hmm 6, without expansions
