I've NEVER heard anyone saying that the 360 would fail. They said it was a "rocky" launch, and you agree. So, how are they backpedalling? You just murdered your entire argument.

And Television sets and laptops have nothing to do with PS3 sales.

Sony's a successful company in SOME areas, but every tyrant's gotta fall down every so often.

Nintendo, anyone?

AND, I'm not even AGREEING that the PS3 is toast. Better believe I'll have one when Squaresoft (Screw SQUARE-ENIX!!) drops games.
Yeah you're totally right-
http://www.gaming-360.com/archives/date/2006/01/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/January...n_video_gaming

And you just listed Nintendo, which even further shows that no matter how badly you do, it takes a lot for you to, "fall". Hell, Sega bombed with everything they put out from the Sega CD all the way up to the Dreamcast, yet they are still alive and kicking, just not making systems anymore.

Nintendo bombed with the Nintendo 64 and Gamecube, and they still survived.

It's highly unlikely Sony will "die" or "fall" with the PS3 when they dominated the market with the PS1 and PS2. If the PS4 bombs, then yeah, fine Sony is in trouble, but saying they're in trouble just from the PS3 is a really invalid argument to make.

www.vgchartz.com has the "sell-through" count for the PS3's at 3.29 million. It's been what, 5 months since the PS3 launch? The 360 was at about 3.5-4 million sell through 5 months after its launch, so I fail to see how the PS3 is any worse than the 360 in shape, when the Wii wasn't even around when the 360 was launched.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ps3#Sales
"Units shipped: 5.5 Million. Units sold: 3.5 Million" As of April 1st, 2007. That's 4 and a half months after launch.

Let's see where the 360 was 4-5 months after launch.
Roughly 4 million units sold in up to Q2 2006, which is roughly 4-6 months after launch.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360#Sales

Wow, yeah. This Bank of America guy knows EXACTLY what he's talking about.

The actual count for units SOLD and not units shipped, is actually 5.5 million in the US and for the PS3 1.3 million so far. Hardly as big of a flop as people say it is. You should always take away the 1 year of sales ahead of the PS3 the 360 had. The 360 from November 2006 up until May 1st, 2007 has only had an abysmal amount of sales over the PS3.

You don't need'a drop links on me. I'm only interested in this topic as a consumer. I'm not here to fight for or against, nor am I here to tell the masses that this guy-- who obviously knows more than all of us-- is incorrect.

It does take a lot to actually fail once you're a branded name. I don't think they'll DIE and I don't think the guy who made the predictions was hinting at any sort of death... or did I miss something?

I think you're arguing for the wrong reasons. He does have authority in a field where you do not...

Again, I don't think the PS3 will fail, is failing, will die, or is dying. It's just that this is, as many articles have been, is informative of the business side. I won't discount his predictions based on what I THINK I know... versus what he's been trained to know.

Okay, then I'll make it black and white for you.

This thread has been derailed since post #2.

Why? Because everyone that's been posting has been arguing in the sake of consumer.

His analysis was in regards to Sony's investment strength.

If you're buying shares, yes, it's a bad idea to buy shares from Sony. Why? Sony's value per share will be fluctuating over the next year.

If you invested in Nintendo, smart move.

Investing in Microsoft, doesn't really matter much. Might as well put money in the bank because you won't gain or lose money with Microsoft shares. Their dominance can only get better by what, 1-3% up or down?

Sony's value per share won't go up for a few fiscal periods, which is what he was referring to.

From an investment stand point, no, the price drop won't help Sony's investors. From a consumer stand point, the PS3 is far from over.

Then instead of making a joke that made you look ignorant... you should've just said "PS3 isn't over for me!".

You're the one that challenged his authority on the subject.

Anyway, I've stated my stand on it. Guy probably know what he's talking about, but just like with the N64: it delivered great titles, I had one, didn't matter to me where it went. PS3? I'll have one and hope for the best.

I gotta play with my NewEgg order now.

Maybe I would bother to read all of your posts, if they did not sound like some child complaining about someone else, and wining a lot, and turning it into a wall of text and or making an essay out of it.

How is the PS3 not worth the amount Sony is asking for? The Blu-Ray player alone makes it worth $700. I own both a xbox and a 360. Both of them are **** when it comes to games lately and collecting dust. As far as future games goes Sony does have the brighter future. With more highly anticipated games then Wii and 360 combined.

Think i understand what Nameless is getting to when saying he would pay more attention to EGM Editor saying PS3 is toast compared to this investment analyst. What factors does this analyst base his information on? Purely price?

Blu Ray players are worth $200 at the most. Its called price gouging.

The PS3 is not a flop..

GTA4 will be limited on the 360 version because they cannot fit all that data onto a standard DVD. (Yes this is comfirmed, google it)

The PS3 allows for 1080p while the 360 allows for 720p/1080i (1080i is worthless for gaming)

The PS3 is far superior, it just cost a bit more. In the future when games start getting more developed for the consoles, 360 will fall behind because they only have standard DVDS while the PS3 has blu-ray which allow for so much more space!

I have both systems so I can vouch that the PS3 is better.
