Help! My comp is freezing

Thread Starter
As you guessed from the title my comp is freezing up all the time. It happened when I moved my comp from inside a case to no case at all, just sitting on top of the box my mobo came in. Its a lot cooler now but when I tried overclocking I noticed that no matter how a worked it the system would be unstable and make funny noise or just freeze up. I rest speeds to stock and it still freezes, nothing at all is overclocked but the system is just totally gone. I think that it is either my motherboard or power supply but I am not certain. Please, give me help.

you may want to look at the possibility of damaged components. id do a full re-install of the drivers, do a bios update, chkdsk, etc.

Your case doesn't just hold the components... it also provides a level of protection against RF noise... which, your computer is designed to absorb, even if it causes it to malfunction...

Is it properly grounded and I agree on the comments about picking up EMF from say other electronic sources. It's a possibility but I would lean more towards proper grounding or loose solder points.

Noises? What types of noises? Crackling, humming, low level screeching?

Just the box? or on the static bag/foam it came with too?

cause the static bag is a conductor... and some foam can conduct electricity as well...
