Core Temp...works?

well, ive been trying to use coretemp, but every time i do, windows locks up and reboots...my overclock is fairly stable, so whats going on eh?

I've heard of that problem but have never experienced it. Sorry, no idea what to do to go around it. Did you try both version .94 and .95?

actualy from what i have herad the newest version is the one that locks up. Last time i tried to use .95 my computer just shut off, as if someone shut off the power supply

^Same here.

Use SpeedFan. It's just as accurate in my experience. I get the exact same temps with either.

Coretemp also shuts down my computer also. I was so relieved to find out that it was coretemp and not my crappy PSU though.

anyone know why it could make the computer just loose power like that? Its kind of odd for a program to just kill the power like that i mean i understand if it gives an error or stops responding or even a bsod but to just shut the computer off like that its strange. Anyone know why?

I've had informal conversations with the program's writer, and also have done research on the problem. Apparently the shutdowns are triggered by illegal memory access by the program; the system shuts down as protection.

If I'm not mistaken, some viruses can do this as well. Can anyone confirm?
