If I'm not mistaken, some viruses can do this as well. Can anyone confirm?
I dont know about viruses but it seems likely - and I had heard the same thing about the program accessing memory illegally - hopefully it will be adressed in the next version as its a great little program.

Anyone looking for something else I have been using a program called 'coretemeter' which seems just as accurate as coretemp and doesnt seem to crash the PC (it has restarted once during stress testing, but that was when I was trying out a lower vcore - so that was probably the cause of the crash)

I tried Coretemeter as well several months ago, when I was trying to get my current overclock stable. That program crashed my machine too! That was possibly my first clue that my problems lay not in hardware but in software.

I haven't had a crash since I stopped using CoreTemp and/or Coretemeter.
