Now, if you were saying that 1080i can encapsulate an entire 1080p signal, it's effecitvely true and false.

My HD camera can do 1080p, but it has to rip the 24 frames per second from a 1080i (60i) stream before it can achieve that.

Interlaced is not as easy as saying "it's interlaced". Progressive is not as easy as saying "it's prorgressive".
