Increase OC? voltages??

Thread Starter
hey all - i'm trying to OC my rig a bit more than it is at the moment...

i got my rig OC'd to 3.4ghz, cpu:ram at 1:1, auto voltages...

if i want to push my OC to 3.8 or more, i can't, it just reboots with the default settings or doesn't boot at all, then i have to reset cmos and try again, so what do you think i should do?

add more volts and to what and in what order?

thanks all

hurm it depends how many volts your at already, auto volts scales the votlages up automatically depending on the proccy speed. ideally you want to stay below 1.45v

You'd be hard pressed to OC a Core 2 Duo much past 3.6. Sure it's possible in some extreme cases, but not really feasable.

is that because the RAM can only be OC'd to 900 with the divider at 1:1 or??

No, it has more to do with how many volts you'd have to push through the 6400 in order to run faster than 3.6Ghz. More than 1.45 - 1.5 and you start deteriorating your chip, albeit slowly... .

From what I gather, these chips just don't go there unless you throw a ton of voltage at them, and that's not a good thing.

I say "go for it!" If you can keep it cool under load with no more than 1.5 vcore, you're good in my book!
